I think that there is a real need for humor in the world, which is why I chose clowns to be the subject of my work. I have always had a fascination with clowns, and it seems only natural that clowns and comics should go together. After all, what are clowns but real-life cartoon characters?

My process consists of combining traditional and digital media. My line work is done with pencil and ink. I then scan the inked images into digital files, and use Photoshop for digital coloring and touch-up work. This process allows me the freedom to experiment with different color palettes and textures.

Humor allows us to find joy in the things that would otherwise cause pain and sadness. I hope that my work can make at least a few people laugh, or even just crack a smile.

As the Department of Art and Art History’s 2022 BFA class’ time at UConn draws to a close, we look back fondly on the time we spent together and the memories we made along the way. Although we now look forward to our creative futures, we wish to say thank you and farewell to our devoted professors and advisors who’ve worked alongside us throughout these transformative years.
