Between Us
and Meaning

Printmaking

These works each begin in a singular, interior focus: a memory, a feeling, a secret. They then take shape through a constantly evolving visual language of unspoken associations. This visual language is both the product of repeated interrogation and the reflection on my lived experience. The intent of the work is to reach for something that seems indefinable except through the use of multiple media. A brushstroke may express, with the language of color and gesture, what a digital photograph says with light and truth. This process suggests that, through intense reflection of subjective experience, a window into the universal may appear.

As the Department of Art and Art History’s 2022 BFA class’ time at UConn draws to a close, we look back fondly on the time we spent together and the memories we made along the way. Although we now look forward to our creative futures, we wish to say thank you and farewell to our devoted professors and advisors who’ve worked alongside us throughout these transformative years.
