The first comic I ever read was one of my Uncle’s old Spider-Man comics that my grandparents had kept in their coffee table. As an elementary school age kid I was drawn in by the movement of the lines and the dynamic compositions, and I have been fascinated by comics ever since. The combination of visual and text based storytelling creates the opportunity for an incredibly engaging and immersive experience for the reader.
Blight is a digitally rendered comic that tells the story of a warrior, Enda and a healer, Fianna. This comic is heavily influenced by the medieval fantasy genre and the romance trope “right person wrong time.” Enda and Fianna become closer as Fianna tends to Enda’s wounds, but the weight of what Enda must do on the battlefield continues to wear them down ultimately begging the question: can death be a mercy?
